First, I want to thank all of you for your support of Ozark Book Authority, our events, and our local authors these past two years. It has been a very interesting ride! I am so glad to have met many of you, and to have worked with so many amazing local authors in all of our events. We could not have produced the events we did without the support of our community, volunteers, authors, and sponsors. So, thank you, first and foremost, for joining us on this journey.
That said, we have made the decision to discontinue Ozark Book Authority and its events, including Ozark Book Con. Ozark Book Authority and Ozark Book Con began as a dream to do something more for the book community in our area, to bring local readers and writers together over a shared love of books. We believe in the work that we did as an organization, and we are proud of the events we produced. However, we no longer feel that we are able to continue that work.
It would be easy to blame the pandemic for this decision (and perhaps it is partly to blame), but ultimately, the Board of Directors agrees it is time to close this chapter of our lives and move on to new things.
We are formally dissolving the nonprofit with the State of Arkansas and will be turning over all assets to other local nonprofits who share our values and align with our mission. Our website will remain accessible until January 29, 2021. We will keep our email accounts open, and our YouTube channel and all its videos will remain available to watch indefinitely. All other social media accounts will be closed.
Thank you again for all of your support. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
President, Ozark Book Authority
